back to Bonjour!
Here are 5 free resources for planning your trip on the Loire-a-Velo: Each information source provides useful info, but they aren’t perfect, they compliment each other

One: Start here: The Bicycle Tourists’ Guide to THE LOIRE À VÉLO: by Roland and Julianna. This is an excellent Youtube video to convince yourself you want to do this ride! It gives you the overall vibe of the Loire-a-Velo. It also has sub videos on each segment of the Loire-a-Velo. However, at the end of the video, once you are all excited…it hits you. How exactly am I going to do it? What about some details?
Two: A Simple description about our trip. (the pics, vids, as well as logistical and overnight details such as hotels and campgrounds, are in the drop downs).
Three: The Official Loire-a-Velo website with tons of information about where to stay, sights to see, restaurants, maps, etc. Check this website for all official information. It is a fire hose of information. However, as you plan your trip, you have to winnow it down to your specific information and store it somewhere, remember it and access it, and importantly, access it as you ride. I chose to put the specific information about our trip on a personal Google My Map because when you get there, the details about your specific trip are all on your phone.
Four: A very useful lightweight guide book you can take with you: The River Loire Cycle Route by Mike Wells. Very informative about the towns, villages and history along the way.
Five: Our GoogleMyMap of our trip with all kinds of detailed information about our trip that could help you plan yours, including contact information for all of our hotels, campgrounds, sights of interest, etc. It is GPS linked, so unlike the other resources, it can TELL YOU WHERE YOU ARE! (especially when you are lost). You can request the data file for this map to import into Google my Maps to create your own editable map.
If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or corrections, just drop me a message. Click on the little arrow under “Contact” to open up the contact box… If you have done the Loire-a-Velo or other EuroVelo routes and have cool sights of interest or places to stay, I would be interested to hear your story.
